Blaine Wehunt - RIP : At approximately 2:10 (Tuesday October 23rd 2007), Oscar "Blaine" Wehunt, III, retired Marine, father, and brother passed away in his room at Erlanger Hospital from injuries received in a motorcycle crash on October 14th. Two of his sisters were by his side and comforted him in his final moments. We appreciate all the prayers and support.. Blaine was incredibly loved by everyone. He enjoyed life and would want everyone else to celebrate that life. Blaine was an active member of the Southern Cruisers Riding Club -Chapter # 34 -Chattanooga TN. He was employed by Ruby Falls.

Road Benders : On October 13th 2007 The Road Bender's Riding Club held the second annual Rally In The Valley, hosted by Road Bender members, Chrome Dome and Sassy Tramel. Road Benders Co-Founder JR "Gadget" Worley was the Karaoke DJ for the event. There was plenty to eat and drink and everyone had a blast singing, dancing, and just pain having fun. The photos were taken by "Gadget" and "Jazz", with a Sony Mavica digital camera.

Nightfall - 9.27.07 : RoadBenders RC at Nightfall Well, Friday night September 28th was the last night of the Night Fall Bike Night in downtown Chattabiker. We had two of our members pledge to tie the knot in Holy Matrimony. Mark Conry proposed to his long time girl friend Lynn Rhodes, by getting down on one knee and popping the question right in the middle of Market Street at Night Fall. It was a fun time for all. Lynn was totally surprised by this, and burst into tears when Mark hit the ground on one knee. I hope to have the photos up on the web site soon. Those friends in attendance were, American Legion Riders, Southern Cruisers Riding Club, Road Benders Riding Club, and all of the Night Fall regulars. Congratulations to Mark and Lynn. We love you. Local Soldier Honored - Road Benders : Hey Road Benders and friends; Today we honored one of our troops who is home on leave from Iraq. The Road Bender's Riding club surprised this young man with a welcome home he will not soon forget. Sergeant Stanfield is in his 3rd tour in Iraq. After talking with him today, I also discovered he has been on duty in Bosnia as well as many other places. He has fifteen years in the military at this point. Please keep Sergeant Standfield and all our troops in your thoughts and prayers, that they will return safely home at the end of their commitment. It does not matter if you agree or disagree with this war. What does matter is our troops are willingly putting there lives on the line each day. So we must believe in and support them. GOD Bless AMERICA and our TROOPS Thanks for being a part of Road Bender's Riding Club May all your Roads Bend in the right direction JR "Gadget" Worley "We Just Want To Ride"

Ride for Hope - Cancer Ride : As you know Saturday (th28th) did not appear to be our day for good weather. When we woke up to strong storms and rain we had a chose to make . As a group we decided that cancer never takes a rain day and neither will we. The "Ride for Hope was still on. So....about 11:00am the clouds went away and the rain stopped. We had around 30 riders leave out and have a great ride. While the bikes were out we had bands playing , food to eat ,and shirts to sell. We honored a cancer patient , Philip Varnon, from the North Georgia area. He lost his battle last fall and he meant so much to so many. His family wanted to do something to honor his memory . After the day was through and the auction was over our final count that we raised was around $ 3.000.00...... not to bad for a rainy day. We would love to see some of the pictures in Road Rash . Thanks to the American Legion post 214 in Rossville for all of there hard work as well as contributions. Plans will start for next years "Ride for Hope" very soon and we will be in touch.I am sending you some pictures from the day. Thanks for you help. Deana Riggs

Road Benders Riding Club : Here are various photos of the Road Benders Riding Club Road Benders @ Thunder Beach Saturday May12th, The Road Bender's Riding Club made a trip to Cullman Alabama to visit, Ave Maria Grotto. We had a ball! It was amazing to see the city of Jeruselem in miniature. The attention to detail and scale was amazing to say the least. It was many years in the making and came about by the dream of one Monk Priest. If you get the chance to visit this place, it will forever be etched in your memory of great things you have done. You don't have to be Catholic or Christian to enjoy this wonderful step back in time. Confederate Memorial Day w/ SCV - 4/29/07 : CONFEDERATE MEMORIAL DAY OBSERVATION at the Georgia Monument Chickamauga-Chattanooga National Military Park On the last Sunday in April, local Sons of Confederate Veterans celebrated Confederate Memorial Day at the Georgia Monument on the Chickamauga Battlefield. This event has a long tradition. After the war, there was a Confederate widow who regularly visited the grave of her husband to keep it clean. Her young daughter came with her, and while the mother spent time at the grave of her husband, the little girl cleaned up the unmarked Confederate graves nearby. She told the mother that those were “her soldiers.” The child died, and the mother had to come to the cemetery alone. Whenever she was there, she remembered the graves that her daughter and tried to keep clean and took care of them also. Members of the Daughters of the Confederacy learned of her good work and began to help her. This custom spread all over the south. Every spring, citizens would come out to the local cemeteries for an event called “Decoration Day,” on which they would bring flowers and clean the graves of Confederate soldiers. As an outgrowth of this, local governments began to designate the month of April as Confederate Memorial month. April was chosen because that was the month when the war started and also the month in which it ended. We are proud to continue the tradition to this day. Eight years ago, Freddie Parris, Jr. and Doug Coleman were conducting a living history event at Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park. They discussed the old custom of having a memorial day to remember the Confederate soldiers, and concluded that the Georgia Monument, the tallest monument in the park, would be an ideal place to come together to honor the Confederate soldiers of Georgia. The first event was a great success, and it has been repeated every year up to the present. Our event remains the only such activity on a National Park anywhere in the country.
